The annual gathering of the China Seed Congress, the leading event in China's seed industry, has been successfully held three times, in 2018 and 2019 in Beijing and in 2021 in Sanya, Hainan. The congress is hosted by the China Seed Association (CSA), and aims to become a cooperation platform for seed enterprises and establish confidence for the prosperity and modernization of the national seed industry.
The 2021 China Seed Congress and the Nanfan Agricultural Silicon Valley Forum were both held in Sanya, and consisted of a main forum and 12 sub-forums. They covered fields like rice, corn, vegetables, aquatic products and digitalization and intellectual property in the seed industry. The two events brought together scientists, experts and field workers to discuss challenges and breakthrough solutions for high quality and green development of China's seed industry.
Hainan, as a precious agricultural breeding ground, is working to develop Sanya Nanfan Science and Technology City, and the Lingshui and Ledong core areas to promote the transformation of Nanfan agricultural breeding from seasonal work to perennial seed research and development, and from decentralized scientific research to a collaborative cluster.
