Low-altitude economy alliance debuts in Sanya to drive tech, tourism growth

Updated: english.sanya.gov.cn

The China Low-Altitude Economy Industry Alliance was established on May 10 in Sanya, Hainan. This event was attended by representatives from numerous leading technology firms specializing in artificial intelligence and low-altitude economy sectors, as well as nearly 100 delegates from government and corporate entities.

Initiated by China Resources Land and multiple research institutions and industry leaders, the alliance focuses on core technologies like drone management and aerial vehicle research and development, exploring artificial intelligence (AI) integration in tourism, emergency logistics, and more.

Zeng Rong, chief economist of Hainan International Economic Development Bureau, said that Hainan will leverage its free trade port policies to foster a robust low-altitude economy ecosystem, supporting innovative products and services.

Low-altitude tourism reshapes travel experiences, boosting consumption across dining, accommodation, and entertainment. At Sanya Tarhe Skydiving Base, Hainan's largest skydiving site, visitor numbers surged 70 percent daily during the May Day holiday compared with usual times, with 6,000 jumps recorded in the first quarter.

However, challenges like talent shortages and operational irregularities persist. The Hainan Aero Sports Association urges standardized practices through industry guidance. Experts suggest utilizing Hainan's policies to attract R&D and manufacturing firms, building a complete low-altitude economy supply chain.
