Zhang Yanqiu, president of the China Seed Association, said that Sanya, once a seasonal research base, now boasts a comprehensive service chain covering germplasm preservation, molecular testing, and variety evaluation.
As the core carrier of Nanfan Silicon Valley, Sanya has been innovating around institutional mechanisms, industrial cultivation, talent introduction, and other aspects.
In Sanya, cutting-edge technologies like Longping High-Tech's "Smart Breeding Factory" and Syngenta's "Gene Magic Scissors" have increased rice disease resistance editing success to 95 percent. The rise of contract research organizations (CROs) in Hainan has fostered collaborative innovation, offering end-to-end services from molecular markers to variety approval.
With over 2,000 domestic and international academicians, experts, and executives from multinational seed industry groups attracted, international cooperation was a key event theme. Sanya signed multiple agreements on research, technology exchange, and trade, strengthening its global ties.
The event underscored Sanya's achievements, enhancing its credibility and expanding its influence within the international seed market. This development paves the way for further integration on a global scale.
