Sanya's GDP growth rate tops in Hainan

According to the Sanya municipal bureau of statistics, Sanya's GDP reached 66.26 billion yuan ($9 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, increasing by 12.5 percent compared to the same period last year. This growth rate ranks first in Hainan province.

Of the total, the added-value of the primary industry reached 8.4 billion yuan, a growth of 3.9 percent. The added-value of the secondary industry increased to 7.33 billion yuan, up 7 percent. That of the tertiary industry amounted to 50.53 billion yuan, up 14.7 percent.

During the first three quarters, the total retail sales of consumer goods in the city amounted to 37.81 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.6 percent. The city's off-shore duty-free retail sales reached 21.66 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.7 percent.

The number of overnight visitors in the city rose by 85.5 percent to 19.22 million during the first three quarters of this year. Sanya's total tourism revenue amounted to 67.14 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 93.3 percent. The passenger throughput at Sanya Phoenix International Airport increased by 123.1 percent over the same period, totaling about 16.53 million passengers.

In the first three quarters, the per capita disposable income of residents in the city reached 30,034 yuan, a year-on-year growth of 6.1 percent. Related to this, the per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 34,172 yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 6 percent. That of rural residents reached 18,590 yuan, indicating a year-on-year growth of 8.5 percent.
