According to the Sanya municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, Sanya has further accelerated the high-quality development of its leisure fishing industry, with a total output value of 545.93 million yuan ($74.88 million) in the first half of this year, ranking first in Hainan province.
This year, Sanya has been promoting the transformation and upgrading of its fishing industry.
Construction on the Sanya Bay Modern Fishing Industrial Park, with a planned area of 660 hectares, is being expedited. Meanwhile, construction on the Yazhou Central Fishing Port has also been accelerated.
The development of deep-sea aquaculture is being vigorously promoted as well. A total of 660 hectares of aquaculture waters in Sanya Bay have been approved. The main species being bred is the gold pomfret, with an annual output of 6,000 metric tons and a value of about 216 million yuan.
The development of Sanya's leisure fishing industry is being accelerated, with large-scale events being organized. From Aug 16 to 18, the China (South China Sea) Sanya Fishing Festival was held at the Yazhou Central Fishing Port to celebrate the start of the new fishing season.
