Sanya, known as the "Asia-Pacific Yachting Capital", is making great efforts to develop its yacht industry.
It released theAction Plan for Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Yacht Industry Chain in Sanya, which focuses on four dimensions: platform constructions, project developments, event organizations and policy advocacy.
In 2023, Sanya has imported 47 yachts with zero tariffs, worth 390 million yuan ($54 million). From January to June, Sanya registered an increase of 122 yachts, bringing the total number of registered yachts located there to 1,259.
During the same period, Sanya hosted 90,300 yachting trips with 630,300 tourists. It's expected that the number of tourists in 2023 will exceed the historical high of 1.05 million people in 2020.
Currently, more than 70 yacht industry chain enterprises have settled in the Sanya Central Business District, attracting loads of talent.
According to theHainan Province Yacht Industry Development Plan (2021-25), by 2025 the registered number of yachts on the island province will exceed 2,446 and the total number of yachting tourists will reach 1.36 million annually, generating an industry scale topping 10 billion yuan.
