After the May Day holiday this year, Sanya's Tianya district has maintained its tourism popularity.
In the first quarter of this year, the operational accommodation facilities in Tianya district received 3 million overnight tourists, a year-on-year increase of 39.12 percent. The average occupancy rate of tourist hotels reached 81.83 percent, an increase of 23.94 percent year-on-year. During the May Day holiday this year, the district received 215,900 tourists.
Since the beginning of this year, Tianya has hosted several characteristic tourism and cultural events, such as the Spring Festival market, the Lantern Festival Fair, the first Tianya Grape Picking Festival, and the 2023 Sanya Sunny Run Carnival. These events attracted thousands of tourists, and drove up growth in the district's rural tourism and night economy.
During the May Day holiday, the tourist comprehensive square and service reception center on West Island began trial operation. It functions as a tourist service center, a restaurant, a coffee bar, a market, and a coastal stage. The services provided by the center include travel consultation guidance, hotel check-in, temporary luggage storage, and ticket processing.
Since the beginning of this year, especially during the Spring Festival and May Day holiday, Tianya district's restaurants and food-focused districts have attracted a large number of customers. During the May Day holiday, the district's night market was very popular, with a daily passenger flow of around 10,000 people.
