Sanya sees surge in tourism during May Day holiday

During the May Day holiday, Sanya's scenic spots and major rural tourism locations received 723,900 tourists, an increase of 819.37 percent year-on-year.

From April 28 to May 2, Sanya's accommodation sector received approximately 256,500 overnight tourists, with an average occupancy rate of 74.62 percent. Among them, the number of overnight guests that stayed in hotels was 111,600, while homestays and short lease properties reported 14,100, and 130,800 overnight guests, respectively.

During this period, Sanya's inbound and outbound tourist volume reached 587,100, a year-on-year increase of 259.47 percent. Sanya Phoenix International Airport oversaw 1,912 inbound and outbound flights, an increase of 213.96 percent year-on-year. The airport also facilitated a total passenger throughput of 327,100, a year-on-year increase of 486.99 percent.

Among all the scenic spots, the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone received 119,400 tourists, a year-on-year growth of 534.17 percent; the Wuzhizhou Island Tourist Area received 61,200 tourists, up 2,045.13 percent; and the Tianya Haijiao Tourist Area received 33,900 tourists, surging by 817.37 percent. Other tourist favorites included the West Island Marine Cultural Tourism Zone, with 40,400 tourist visits and the Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Tourist Area with 41,400 tourist visits, a surging by 823.68 percent and 1,714.20 percent.

Among all the rural tourism spots, Damao Sino-nature Village received 39,000 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 1,761.58 percent, and Bohou village received 19,600 tourists, up 1,177.94 percent year-on-year.
