Hainan's modern service industry adds 212.47b yuan in 2022

The added value of the modern service industry in Hainan was 212.47 billion yuan ($30.8 billion) in 2022, accounting for 31.2 percent of the province's GDP.

Among the added value of the modern serve industry in 2022, the added value of the productive service sector was 167.13 billion yuan and the added value of the life services sector was 45.35 billion yuan.

In terms of enterprise revenue, major enterprises in Hainan's modern service industry (excluding the financial sector) achieved a business revenue of 1.7 trillion yuan in 2022, an increase of 23.5 percent year-on-year.

Four of the nine main sectors of the modern service industry continued to grow. Among them, the wholesale industry grew by 34.5 percent, information transmission, software, and information technology services by 16.3 percent, scientific research and technical services by 14.4 percent, and modern education, as well as medical and health services by 10.8 percent.

The contact services industry has declined due to the impact of multiple rounds of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak across the province. The modern cultural and tourism services sector saw a 34.4 percent drop in operating revenue, while the water, environment, and public facilities management sector saw a 15 percent decline.
