As the world's largest single duty-free shop, Haikou International Duty Free City will open in Haikou, South China's Hainan province on Oct 28.
Constructed by China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation, it covers 926,000 square meters and over 800 brands have already confirmed their presence in it, including many first stores and famous brands.
The Haikou International Duty Free City project covers duty-free businesses, high-end offices, high-end hotels, a talent community, as well as leisure, cultural, and exhibition functions. It is committed to creating the world's first duty-free business, cultural, tourism, and leisure destination.
It has a floor area of 280,000 sq m and will become the largest single duty-free shop in the world when completed.
Situated adjacent to the seaport on Plot 5, the Haikou International Duty Free City shopping complex will introduce thousands of domestic and international brands, many of which will be available as duty free.
In a statement, China Duty Free Group (CDFG) said that it will continue to maintain its dominant position in the tourism retail market in Hainan with the opening of the mall.
The province's core competitive advantages of design, brand investment, logistics and distribution, operation management, as well as marketing and digitalization have aided the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and international tourism consumption center, bringing more diverse new tourism and shopping experiences to consumers.
