In order to further promote the development of a complete yacht industry chain, the Sanya municipal government passed a related work plan on Feb 15.
Sanya has unique resources and advantages to develop its cruise yacht industry. By the end of 2021, the number of registered yachts in Sanya reached 945, a year-on-year increase of 52.1 percent, of which 323 newly registered yachts were registered throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of 202 percent. Tourists took yachts to travel to sea 159,800 times, accounting for 94 percent of Hainan province's cruise yachts sailing to the sea.

However, the development of Hainan's yachting industry has previously been mainly concentrated in the tourism industry. With the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Sanya has begun to promote the development of a complete yacht industry chain, especially focusing on yacht design and manufacturing.
Last year, Sanya Central Business District (CBD) registered a company with its own yacht brand, Delmont Party Yachts, which is also the first independent yacht brand in Hainan. With the support of the Hainan FTP policy, the company has furthered its development, designing, manufacturing, and selling the first Delmon Party yacht.
In order to promote the construction of "Hainan International Design Island" and build a local yacht design brand, the first Hainan International Yacht Design Award was launched in Sanya CBD last year. Worldwide designers from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands submitted 127 works, with the competition judges recently determining 13 finalists.
As the only key industrial park with cruise yachts as its leading industry in Hainan, Sanya CBD is accelerating the construction of the Sanya International Yacht Center project. At present, more than 80 cruise yacht companies, including Yaguang Technology Group, O'Neill Yacht Charters, and Simpson Yacht Charter, have settled in Sanya CBD.
