Overview
Chengmai is located in China's southern island province of Hainan, adjacent to the provincial capital of Haikou. It has been established as a county for more than 2,000 years and is considered one of the three famous cities in Hainan in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24).
It has a population of 560,000 occupying a land area of 2,076 square kilometers. The county also has a sea area of 1,100 square kilometers.
Advantages
A group of expressways and railways, such as the west line of the Rotary Island Highway, the Yuehai Railway (linking Zhanjiang in Guangdong to Sanya in Hainan) and the West Ring High-speed railway, run through the county.
Chengmai is rich in natural resources and it is well-known for its world-leading abundance of selenium.
It is also famous in China for the longevity of its people. The county has abundant historic relics and beautiful landscapes, including the Meilang Twin Pagodas, Yongqing Temple, Jinshan Temple, Dacheng Palace, Guangde Bridge, Luoyi Ancient Village, the Jialongping Tropical Monsoon Rain Forest Ecotourism Area and Hainan Guilin Ecological Landscape Tourism Resort. It is home to leisure and entertainment facilities, such as the Jinjiang Entertainment Capital, Fushan Coffee Culture Town, Taiwan Style Town and Jiulegong Hot Spring Resort.
In addition, there are many Red Tourism resources, such as the Meihe Revolutionary Base Monument and a monument to the Yubao Port Landing.
