The Chinese mainland is home to a population of 1.41 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 0.53 percent over the past decade, down from the 0.57 percent recorded from 2000 to 2010, according to a news conference on the outcome of the seventh national population census held by the State Council Information Office on May 11.
According to the latest census, the island province of Hainan is home to a population of 10,081,232, up by 16.26 percent compared to the sixth census.
