III. Expanding market access for foreign investment

The number of sectors that are off-limits to foreign investors was cut to 33 in the 2020 version of the nationwide "negative list". The 2020 negative list for foreign investment in pilot FTZs cut the number of prohibited industries to 30.

At the end of the year, China released a revised catalog of industries in which foreign investment is encouraged. The new edition has added 127 items to last year's version, making a total of 1,235 items for nationwide implementation, as well as a secondary catalog applicable specifically to central and western regions.
