3. Changshu National New and Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone
Changshu New and Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone was founded in 2003 and became a provincial-level hi-tech zone in 2011.
The zone's economic strength and scientific and technological innovation capacities have risen rapidly since its establishment. It was one of the development zones in Jiangsu with the fastest development rate and earned the titles of the Most Valuable Development Zone of Investment in the Yangtze River Delta three times and the Top 10 Development Zones of Service Outsourcing in China four times.
To help it gather advanced technical resources and high-caliber talents, the zone founded the Changshu University Science and Technology Park in 2010, which was the first national-level university scientific and technological park settled in a county-level city. Some 140 innovative science and technology enterprises had been attracted to the zone by the end of 2015.
Automobile and auto-parts, high-end equipment manufacturing, electronic information and hi-tech services were also formed in the zone before it was upgraded to national-level in September 2015.
So far, it has attracted more than 900 projects from over 20 countries and regions, including ones with investment from Toyota Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi Motors and Hitachi Group. Its revenue in the general public budgets in 2017 totaled 2.66 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23.87 percent.
