Swiss air quality technology company IQAir sees big opportunities in the Chinese market amid the growing demand for products that can help better manage the indoor air environment.

The company has unveiled its latest IQAir GC XE air purifier, which can effectively remove formaldehyde for a long period of time, said Frank Hammes, global CEO of IQAir.

According to him, this latest product showcases the company's commitment to the Chinese market. Since the use of the company's air purifiers in Chinese hospitals in 1998, IQAir has seen a rapid development of interest and awareness in air quality in China.

"Today, one of the biggest concerns of our customers in China is the reduction of air pollutants caused by decoration. The effective removal of formaldehyde in particular has been a challenge for the air purifier industry," Hammes said.

While many air purifiers can remove some formaldehyde in the short term, their effectiveness can drop quickly, sometimes loosing much of their effectiveness within a few weeks, he said.

"The IQAir GC Series has been known for its quality formaldehyde long-term removal for many years," Hammes added.

According to the newest Chinese test standards for air purifiers, IQAir provides a 99 percent formaldehyde removal within 40 minutes and a sustained formaldehyde removal for up to 5 years. "Over the lifetime of our new IQAir GC CF filter, we are able to remove over 60,000 mg of pure formaldehyde. This is 40 times the new national standard requirement," he said.
