SND breaks ground on semiconductor test equipment project

Construction on the R&D and production headquarters of Superton Electronics Co and the manufacturing base for semiconductor assembly and test equipment began in Suzhou New District on Jan 11.

Zhou Tianhao, general manager of Superton Electronics Co, executives from several other SND electronics companies and officials from the district attended the inauguration ceremony.

Superton Electronics, which set up its operations in SND in 2006, is a leading domestic firm in the research and production of high-precision products.

In recent years, the firm achieved a breakthrough in semiconductor assembly and test equipment manufacturing techniques. Its technical standards in the sector are now among the highest in China.

The manufacturing base covers an area of more than 40,000 square meters and will mass produce semiconductor assembly and test equipment, as well as auto and optical modules.

Several years ago, SND set the goal of becoming a world-class industrial cluster in the photon sector. It has launched 20 policies and set aside 10 billion yuan ($1.49 billion) to support the development of the district's photon industry.
