Some 80,000 agricultural products are on display at the 19th China International Agricultural Trade Fair, which opened Thursday in Chengdu, Sichuan province.

The aim of the four-day event is to help some 17,000 exhibitors strike deals with 20,000 buyers from across the country according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, which organized the event with the government of Guangdong province.

With 12 sections featuring grains, aquatics, and fruits among others, the fair also aims to showcase agricultural products and promote brands.

During the fair, events such as a forum on green agricultural development will be held, as well as exclusive exhibitions for products related to rural vitalization and also for soybeans from Northeast China, the ministry added.

The fair will advertise modern farming equipment, manufactured farm produce and emerging business models such as livestreaming sales promotion sessions and e-commerce.

Before the fair opened, 11.5 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) worth of deals were struck, it said.
