Raycan Technology Co (Suzhou), a high-tech company based in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province, on Wednesday made the top 20 list of the first Global SMEs Award given out by World Intellectual Property Organization, local media outlets reported.

Raycan Technology was one of the six SMEs in China to make the list.

A total of 272 SMEs from 62 countries and regions applied for the award, which mainly examines enterprises' social influence and intellectual property commercialization achievements.

Founded in 2009, Raycan specializes in the development and production of radiation detection and imaging equipment and has become a global leader in digital radiation detection and imaging technology with independently-developed digital sampling technology.

The company has so far applied for more than 340 patents, of which 170 have been authorized, including more than 110 invention patents authorized in China, the United States, Japan, the European Union, and Africa.

Raycan set up its subsidiary X-Z Lab in California in the United States in 2012, aiming to integrate the world's most cutting-edge technology and become a global digital PET imaging application center.
