In 2022, Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, will further accelerate the construction and application of 5G networks and the industrial internet, and promote the deep integration of new-generation information technology and the manufacturing industry.

The city aims to promote industrial transformation and upgrading and stimulate new vitality for high-quality development in its industrial economy.

By the end of 2022, the city plans to have more than 9,000 5G base stations in operation, including 1,994 in the Taiyuan-Xinzhou Integrated Economic Zone. Taiyuan hopes to achieve full 5G coverage in urban areas and towns and basic coverage in key administrative villages.

Communications network coverage along the high-speed rail and expressways in the city is also expected to be completed.

Taiyuan will promote the in-depth application of 5G + industrial internet in key production links, focusing on its unique advantages in the fields of new materials and equipment manufacturing.

In addition, it will focus on informatization, develop a number of industry-level and enterprise-level industrial internet platforms, and cultivate a number of high-quality industrial internet service providers.

In key industries such as raw materials, equipment manufacturing, and electronic information, 10 enterprises in the city will be urged to carry out digital, networked, and intelligent upgrades.

Additionally, the city will advance the construction of a number of industrial parks such as the Zhongbei Software Industrial Park in an effort to create an electronic information industrial chain.
