Third Belt and Road Initiative Short Video Competition honors winners

An award presentation ceremony for the third Belt and Road Initiative Short Video Competition, co-hosted by China Public Diplomacy Association, SASAC News Center and Global Times Online, was held in Beijing on Tuesday.

With the theme of "Share opportunities for a splendid future," the event is aimed at sharing stories related to the construction of the initiative in the post-pandemic era through short videos demonstrating the appreciation shown by people from countries and regions along the routes of the BRI toward the initiative for the development opportunities it has delivered.

Since the competition kicked off in June, it received nearly 1,000 entries from 89 countries and regions of the world, drawing nearly 500 million views online. Among the videos, 70 winners were chosen for 12 prizes, including a prize for anti-pandemic through unity, a prize for promoting integration among different civilizations, a prize for conveying the voice of Generation Z, and a prize for pushing forward social charity.

First held in 2019, the competition has been successfully held for the third time. The competition plays an active role in strengthening exchanges and cooperation among countries participating in the BRI. Through their lens and the internet, the contestants vividly showed the international community, especially from the perspectives of builders of BRI projects, telling stories of BRI projects in helping unleash local economic potential and delivering development dividends to local people, showing the beauty of the livable environment, traditional culture, industrial prosperity and people's happy lives.

Luo Linquan, vice-president of the China Public Diplomacy Association, said in his speech that the initiative is an opportunity for the whole world. This year's competition has been warmly welcomed from friends from all walks of life, drawing more participants and witnesses from different regions, different cultural backgrounds, and different age levels.

"Works from this competition not only presented impressive moments and touching stories from Chinese State-owned enterprises when building projects along the B&R, but also showed the support of local people for B&R construction, which is to enhance the understanding and friendship between the Chinese and foreign people, said Ma Zheming, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

As the "national team" of China's biological product industry, China National Biotec Group developed vaccines at the critical juncture of the coronavirus outbreak, shouldering China's responsibility as a major power, Zhu Jingjin, president of the Biological Product Division of Sinopharm Group, said in his speech. The company is dedicated to the fair and balanced distribution of vaccines and has safeguarded the lives of people all across the world. CNBG has so far supplied 2.6 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines, of which 790 million have been provided for countries and regions involved in the initiative.
