An Airbus A319 flying from the United States to Taiyuan, capital city of North China's Shanxi province, arrived on Oct 28 at the facilities operated by Xiyouyuan Aviation Technology Group Co in the local Wusu Comprehensive Bonded Zone to have bonded maintenance.

In recent years, Shanxi has issued a blueprint for the development of the general aviation sector. It has also developed its general aviation market and established a general aviation service network and a general aviation service guarantee system since it became a national demonstration province for general aviation industry development in 2019.

The launch of the bonded aviation maintenance and remanufacturing business marked a milestone in the development of the general aviation sector in Shanxi.

Shanxi-based company Xiyouyuan Aviation Technology is currently the only domestic aviation technology remanufacturing enterprise located in a comprehensive bonded zone, making it is a key project for the province to promote the development of aviation industrial clusters.

The enterprise carries out aircraft maintenance, completions and deliveries of domestically made large aircraft. It is also involved in the manufacturing of smart aircraft for general aviation, second-hand aircraft trading, aircraft conversions, aviation materials trading and aviation components R&D and manufacturing.

According to Chen Jinpeng, the deputy general manager, the emergence of an aviation service enterprise will boost local employment, attract more high-tech personnel and capital, extend the upstream and downstream industrial supply chain, as well as promote the development of other industries.

At present, relying on its own advantages and strong support from Shanxi authorities, the enterprise has signed preliminary agreements with domestic airline enterprises including China Eastern Airlines, Air China International Corp and Hainan Airlines. As the northern center for test flights, maintenance and completions for Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, it has also seen the arrival of domestic large aircraft in the region.

The company has also boosted Shanxi's international cooperation in aircraft for general aviation, enabling it to enter the international market of general aviation.

Li Jia, director of the business services center of the Wusu Comprehensive Bonded Zone, said the presence of Xiyouyuan Aviation Technology would help to bolster the development of the aviation industry and aviation services in Shanxi.
