Unilever China has located its South China integrated manufacturing site in Conghua district, Guangzhou, Guangdong province. It will adopt intelligent and digitalized supply links, including production, storage and delivery, according to a cooperation agreement signed on Tuesday.
The site aims to become the company's first domestic full-category integrated manufacturing site and a global supply chain base in the RCEP area.
"This project is the largest investment by Unilever in China in the last two years," said Rohit Jawa, President of Unilever North Asia.
Unilever will also work with Guangzhou in the upgrading of traditional manufacturing industries, as well as new measures to promote high-quality development.
The project will facilitate Guangzhou in its development as an international consumption center city by integrating advanced manufacturing and modern services.
Conghua district, where the South China production base will be built, is also known as the "back garden" of Guangzhou and the "green pearl on the Tropic of Cancer". It combines a strong industrial area with green development and ecological innovation.
The world-leading consumer goods supplier will make full use of Conghua's renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaics and hydropower, to maximize the use of green energy and develop a circular economy to build a carbon-neutral industrial park with high standards.
Unilever specializes in beauty & personal care, home care and foods & refreshment products, owning more than 400 brands, with sales in over 190 countries and used by 2.5 billion people every day.
