Chinese tech heavyweight Lenovo Group Ltd and US tech giant Microsoft Inc said they will strengthen cooperation in three areas including personal and cloud computing, as the world is undergoing great technological changes.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, had a video conversation with Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo Group at the ongoing Lenovo Tech World 2021 conference. Nadella said in the future, Microsoft will carry out more in-depth and close cooperation with Lenovo in the PC field, expanding cloud and edge computing and focusing on Lenovo's "service-oriented" transformation.

Nadella said the past year has proven how central the PC is in keeping people and organizations connected, productive and secure, and he is thrilled to see Windows 11 on Lenovo devices later this year, which will bring new experiences to customers.

As the world is experiencing massive technological shifts, the two companies will further expand their influence and help many enterprises and institutions around the world realize the migration to "mixed office mode", Nadella added.

Yang said the company will further invest in innovation and aims to double its research and development investments over the next three years, as the Chinese tech heavyweight works to tap into opportunities from accelerated digitalization and intelligent transformation.

Lenovo announced an evolution in its consumption-based business model, introducing Lenovo TruScale, a new portfolio-spanning everything-as-a-service offering. This announcement is part of Lenovo's continuing transformation for the next reality – a new era where consumers and business leaders need new solutions and technologies to face unprecedented changes in business, education, living and beyond.

Expanding its TruScale brand beyond infrastructure services, Lenovo said it is bringing all of its as-a-Service offerings under one umbrella to provide a truly global solution that makes everything from the pocket to the cloud available via a single contract framework.
