Yuxi National High-tech Industrial Development Zone

Yuxi National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, close to the Trans-Asian Railway and the Kunming-Bangkok Road, is the closest state-level hi-tech industrial development zone to the countries and regions of the South Asia and the Southeast Asia.

With a total area of 76.53 square kilometers, the zone was approved by the State Council to be upgraded to a national-level hi-tech industrial development zone.

The zone has developed an industrial system covering bio-pharmaceutical, electronic information, new energy and new materials, agricultural products processing, aviation industry and airport service industry, and strives to play a leading role in scientific and technological innovation, cultivation of new pillar industries and the city-industry integration.

As of the end of 2016, the zone had 2,415 enterprises, of which six are foreign-funded enterprises, 24 are high-tech enterprises and 2,053 are private enterprises. The number of employees in the private enterprises had exceeded 40,000. In 2016, the zone has hit a GDP of 47.58 billion yuan ($ 7.09 million) and a total fixed asset investment of 4.68 billion yuan.
