Hekou Border Economic Cooperation Zone

Hekou Border Economic Cooperation Zone is a national-level border economic cooperation zone approved by the State Council in 1992.

Located in the southeast of Yunnan province, the zone is a convenient channel connecting southwest China with Southeast Asia and South Asia and is one of the best ports for foreign trade in Southwest China.

With a total planned area of 4.02 square kilometers, the zone is responsible for the formulation and filing of various plans within the zone as well as the administrative approval and social management with authorization of the superior administrative units.

By the end of 2015, there were 727 enterprises and 6,225 employees in the zone. The pillar industries of the zone are tourism, border trade and logistics.

In 2015, the total export-import volume increased to 8.4 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), the fiscal revenue increased to 349 million yuan, and the total industrial output value increased to 681 million yuan.
