The Ruijin Economic and Technological Development Area was established in May 2002 and approved to become a national-level economic and technological development area in November 2013.

It has a planning area of 66 square kilometers. Its main industries are electric apparatus and equipment making, food and biomedicine and the zone also prioritizes new energy, new materials and related application, new-type building materials and modern light textile.

Related facilities in the zone are satisfactory, involving water supply, power supply, draining away water and pollution discharge. It has built facilities such as a 35-kilovolt transformer substation, a plant that can treat 15,000 metric tons of industrial sewage every day and an e-commerce incubation park.

It is home to 210 industrial companies. In 2017, the area’s total industrial output value reached about 19.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 66.41 percent; its main industrial business income amounted to 19.77 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.2 percent.
