Sitting in the northeast of Linzhou city, Henan province, Hongqiqu Economic and Technological Development Zone, the first national zone of its kind set up in a county, was founded in 1992, and approved to be national-level zone by the State Council in October 2012.

Covering a planning area of 27.05 square kilometers, it is now home to more than 470 enterprises, including a host of China top 500 and listed enterprises like China Datang Corporation and Zhongfu Industrial.

After years of development, the zone has developed an industry cluster centering on automobile and spare parts manufacturing, as well as new electronic materials. Relying on its solid industrial base and perfect industrial chain, the zone has constructed specific industrial parks related to auto parts, new electronic materials, aluminum magnesium wheels and biotechnology.

According to a comprehensive evaluation released by the Ministry of Commerce in early January, the zone was ranked 132nd among the 219 national economic and technological development zones in 2018, standing at third place in the province after counterparts in Hebi and Zhengzhou. In 2017, its regional GDP reached 25.5 billion yuan ($3.78 billion) and the total value of output was 118.1 billion yuan. It is expected that the regional GDP and the operation revenue of leading industries will reach 36 and 120 billion yuan respectively by 2020.
