Liaoyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone [Photo/lyhw.gov.cn]
Located in the southeast of Liaoyang, Liaoning province, 60 kilometers from Shenyang in the north and 300 km from Dalian in the south, Liaoyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone sits in the hinterland of Shenyang economic region.
The zone, firs established in May 1992, was upgraded as a provincial high-tech zone approved by the Liaoning provincial government in September of the same year. In November 2010, the State Council approved the upgrading of it to a national high-tech industrial development zone. Since then, the high-tech zone occupies an actual management area of 24.37 sq km, with a population of 122,400.
There are 90 industrial enterprises launched in the zone, including 36 enterprises above the designated scale. It boasts 19 high-tech enterprises, accounting for one third of the city's total. The zone focuses on the development of aromatics and the fine chemicals industry, as well as aluminum alloy profiles for industrial use.
In the first half of 2018, its GDP is expected to amount to 10.8 billion yuan ($1.59 billion), up 4.9 percent year-on-year, with the added value of industries above designated size reaching 9.14 billion yuan, up by 5.9 percent. Investment in fixed assets totaled 2.04 billion yuan, up by 13 percent. Foreign trade exports hit 450 million yuan. Funds from overseas total 1.28 billion yuan, an increase of 50 percent.
