Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone

Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone, set up in November 1993, is located in Suzhou's Taicang city. In June 2011, the zone was upgraded to a national-level zone approved by the State Council. The zone has a planning land area of 261.8 square kilometers, along a golden costal line of 38.8 km where the Yangtze River flows into the sea.

By the end of 2016, Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone had constructed 76 berths, including 34 10,000-ton berths and 10 container berths.

The zone has several distinctive industrial parks for different industries, such as petrochemicals, new energy, new materials, new equipment, along with an innovation park for medium-and-small companies.

It has formed three industrial bases for three 10-brillion-yuan ($1.48 billion) industries: petrochemical engineering, electrical energy, light industry and papermaking. It has also cultivated three industrial bases for three emerging industries: new energy, new materials and new equipment.

In 2017, the zone's public budget revenue reached 2.86 billion yuan, up 11.5 percent year-on-year. The total output of industries above designated scales added up to 72.77 billion yuan, up 11.1 percent year-on-year.
