Fuzhou Yuanhong Investment Zone was founded in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province in 1992 after obtaining the approval of the State Council. The zone is planned to cover 60 square kilometers and 8.5 sq km has currently been developed.
In September 2005, it was officially upgraded into a national-level industrial zone by the State Council. In 2010, it was listed as a standard demonstration zone of the province. The zone is 29 kilometers from Fuzhou Changle International Airport and 19 km from Fuqing Railway Station and Fuzhou-Xiamen Highway. The provincial highway, Haicheng Road, runs through the zone from east to west.
