Changchun Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, located in the southwest of Changchun, Jilin province, is one of the first State-level high-tech industrial development zones approved by the State Council in 1991. It is also the first national development zone established in Jilin province, with a planned area of 55 square kilometers.

The layout of the zone features "one base and five parks", one base – the high-tech industrial base, five parks – the creative and software industrial park, the animation industrial park, the opto-electro-mechanical industrial park, the pharmaceutical industrial park, and the auto and parts industrial park. It strives to develop the automobile industry, photoelectric information industry, biomedicine industry, cultural and creative industry, as well as the urban services industry.

In addition, the total number of registered enterprises in the zone reached 7,404, of which 68 have an annual output value exceeding 100 million yuan ($14.81 million) and three of them hitting 10 billion yuan. There are 127 industrial enterprises above the designated size, 103 service enterprises, 131 foreign-funded enterprises and 39 of the world's top 500 enterprises.

In 2016, the total revenue of the zone totaled 404.6 billion yuan, up 10.3 percent year-on-year. The GDP reached 102 billion yuan, up 13.1 percent year-on-year. Total industrial output achieved 370.7 billion yuan, up 10.2 percent year-on-year. Fixed asset investment was 34 billion yuan, up 69.2 percent year-on-year.
