Zhenjiang Export Processing Zone was set up in March 2003 with approval by the State Council with a planned area of 2.53 square kilometers. The first-phrase project covered 0.91 sq km and was certified by the Customs General Administration and seven other ministries for operation in December 2003. In 2015, the zone was upgraded to Zhenjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
Zhenjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone is in Jiangsu's Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone in the southeast of Zhenjiang city. It enjoys convenient transport. Being north of the Yangtze River, the zone is about 3 km from Dagang Port, 15 km from the entrance to the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, and is connected to State Highway No 312.
As a special area supervised by Customs, the zone is suitable for export-oriented processing enterprises, such as the electronics information industry, and optical and communication ports industry. Companies in the zone enjoy convenient and swift round-the-clock customs-clearance service, along with preferential policies from both Zhenjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone.
It has well-equipped energy facilities, rich human resources, low operation costs and convenient logistics transport.
In the first 11 months of 2017, the total import and export volume of Zhenjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone was $285 million, achieving year-on-year growth of 13 percent.
