Taizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone, located in Taizhou Medical New and Hi-tech Industrial Developemnt Zone, was the former Taizhou Export Processing Zone, jointly checked and accepted by the State Council in April 2010.

With a planning area of 1.76 square kilometers, Taizhou Export Processing Zone was upgraded into Taizhou Comprehensive Free Trade Zone in May 2015 and started operations in April 2016.

Taizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone's functions and policies related to tax revenue and foreign exchange are the same as those of Yangshan Deep Water Port, which is part of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Taizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone has been devoting efforts to establish five regional centers in the fields of high-end research, development and manufacturing, bonded logistics, imported goods exhibition and trade, cross-border electronic commerce, and financial transaction and settlement. It will further expand its business functions and innovate its management mechanism.

The zone is expected to transform from processing and assembly into a new development model integrating manufacturing, trade and services.
