Shenzhen National Innovation Demonstration Zone

Established in May 2014, Shenzhen National Innovation Demonstration Zone is located in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. It is China's forth national innovation demonstration zone and the first one with a city as the basic unit.

The total area of the demonstration zone is 397 square kilometers, covering the industrial land of 10 districts and the new Guangming district in Shenzhen, equivalent to nearly 35 Shenzhen High-tech Zones, exceeding the original Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

In the first half of 2018, the regional gross domestic product of Shenzhen National Innovation Demonstration Zone was 1.1 trillion yuan ($162.68 billion), an increase of 8 percent and the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size was 395.53 billion yuan, an increase of 7.4 percent. The demonstration zone has introduced 116 innovation teams from the Peacock Plan, a project to introduce hi-tech talents.
