Quanzhou High-tech Technological and Industrial Development Zone was founded in Quanzhou, Fujian province, in 2003, with approval from the provincial government. It was upgraded to a State-level zone through the approval of the State Council in November 2011.
With a planned area of 91 square kilometers, the zone is composed of nine parts: the Quanzhou Taiwan Business Investment Zone (major part), Licheng high-tech area, Quanzhou software park, Shishi high-tech area, Jinjiangwuli high-tech area, Nan’an photoelectric information industrial base, Qingmeng park, China international information technology (Fujian) industrial park, and Hutou photoelectric information industrial park .
In recent years, on the basis of the stable development of the three leading industries of microwave communications, textiles and clothing, and mechanical equipment, the zone has intensified efforts in strategic emerging industries, including new generation information technology, new materials, solar photovoltaic and rail transit equipment, as well as the modern service industry.
From January to September 2017, the total industrial output value for enterprises above designated size at the zone was 131.9 billion yuan ($19.1 billion), and the total export value was 12.2 billion yuan.
