Located in Shenyang, Liaoning province, Huishan Economic-Technological Development Zone was approved to State-level by the State Council in October 2006. With the completed area of 100 square kilometers, it boasted a permanent population of 580,000 by the end of 2016.

The region's GDP totaled 29.37 billion yuan ($4.22 billion) in 2016, with the added value of service industry reaching 9.89 billion yuan. In the same year, it achieved an industrial output value of 56 billion yuan and 12 billion yuan in fixed investment.

The general public budget income amounted to 2.75 billion yuan, with a tax revenue of 2.51 billion yuan. Its total export reached $500 million; urban per capita disposable income, 35,521 yuan compared with 16,483 yuan for rural residents.

The leading industries in the zone are food and medicine, vehicle manufacturing, smart technology and aviation industries. Leading service industries are leisure tourism, culture and education, and real estate. Modern urban agriculture here is dominated by large-scale, industrialized planting and breeding.
