Cihu High and New Technology Industrial Development Zone, in Ma'anshan city, East China's Anhui province, was promoted by the State Council to the national level in August, 2012.

The development zone are currently doubling down on five pillar industries covering pharmaceutical and chemistry, energy conservation, electronic information, smart manufacturing and port logistics.

It occupies 60 square kilometers between the Hefei and Nanjing metropolitan areas and the Yangtze River Delta city clusters, thus enjoying a convenient transport network. It's also benefiting from the water transportation resources of Ma'anshan Port, which has an annual throughput of over 100 million tons and opens to foreign cargo ships.

The zone has attracted investment from plenty of internationally renowned enterprises, including Saint-Gobain, MB, COFCO and ZTE.

It has so far established cooperative relationships with over 20 distinguished institutes, such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Peking University, to gather innovative elements and accelerate technology transfer.

To date, the zone is home to 80 certificated national high-tech enterprises, 2000 patents and 37 R&D institutions, seven of which are of provincial level or above.

In 2018 alone, the zone has filed a total of 32 high-tech enterprises, accounting for one fifth of the city's total.
