Located in East China's Anhui province, Lu'an Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in 1992 and upgraded to national level in March, 2013.

Occupying 90 square kilometers, the development zone consists of four communities and eight villages, with a registered population of over 50,000. It's only 60 km from the provincial capital, Hefei, and 40 minutes' drive from Hefei Xinqiao International Airport.

It currently houses over 800 enterprises, 400 of which are industrial enterprises, five of which have output values exceeding 1 billion yuan ($144 million) and 28 of which have been certified as national high-tech enterprises.

The development zone has incubated six major industry sectors: high-end equipment manufacturing, fashion and clothing, new materials, traditional Chinese medicine, organic food and the service industry.

In the first three quarters of 2018, the zone's GDP grew by 11 percent, the fastest rate in Lu'an city, while its import and export volume climbed by 16.2 percent, higher than the national average. The fiscal revenue of the first 10 months reached 1.79 billion yuan, a 12.9 percent increase compared with the same period last year.
