Zhongshan Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone, located in Zhongshan city, Guangdong province, is a national high-tech zone that was launched through the joint effort of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Guangdong Provincial Government and Zhongshan municipal government in 1990.

Covering an area of 70 square kilometers, the zone has had more than 300 companies from over 20 countries and regions establish operations there, including some 20 Fortune Global 500 companies. Furthermore, the zone houses nine national bases, including a health technology park, a printing and packaging industrial park and an electronics base.

It has formed industrial clusters covering the fields of medicine, intelligent equipment, electronic information, new energy, auto parts, new materials, energy conservation and environmental protection.

From January to June 2018, the gross domestic product of the development zone was 21.38 billion yuan ($3.08 billion); the added value of industries above designated size was 60.16 billion yuan. The fixed-asset investment was 7.14 billion yuan, and the retail sales of social consumer goods was 4.51 billion yuan.
