Covering an area of 97.6 square kilometers, Qingyuan Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Guangdong province was established with the approval of the State Council in September 2015. At present, Qingyuan Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone is focused on building Qingyuan Science and Technology Innovation Park, South China Leisure Tourism Resort and Guangqing Cooperation Park.

More than 400 key projects have been launched in the zone with a total contract investment amount exceeding 80 billion yuan ($11.54 billion). It is home to large industrial leaders who each have an annual output of over 1 billion yuan, covering fields such as rare metal materials, aluminium profiles, and modified plastic manufacturing. It has developed pillar industries for new materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, and modern services.

The hi-tech zone introduced 18 projects in the first six months of this year, among which 15 have signed formal agreements worth 15.7 billion yuan. In the same period, the total industrial output value of its 109 industrial enterprises was 14.91 billion yuan, an increase of 14.8 percent year on year, while the fixed investment was 2.18 billion yuan, up 8.7 percent. 

The public budget revenue was 122.03 million yuan, an increase of 3.92 percent, including 112.8 million yuan of tax revenue, an increase of 5.52 percent. The total foreign trade value from January to May was 3.01 billion yuan, an increase of 49 percent over the same period last year.
