Located in Nanping town, Helong, Jilin province, the Helong Border Economic Cooperation District was the 17th national border economic cooperation district approved by the State Council in March 2015. It covers a total area of 4.27 square kilometers with industries divided into three main functions, services, resource processing for imports and exports, and trade logistics via the port.

In 2017, 13 projects were introduced into the district, attracting a total investment of 1.68 billion yuan.

By using inexpensive North Korean labor, the district gives priority to labor-intensive processing of imported resources and export processing, mainly in clothing, auto parts and seafood. As of now, there are 20 enterprises registered in the district, with six more posed to enter in the future.
