Fuzhou National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, was listed in the first batch of national-level high-tech zones in 1991. It was approved as a demonstration zone of independent innovation by the State Council in June 2016.

The zone occupies 193 square kilometers with a planned construction area of 66 sq km. It is divided into six parks: Haixi High-tech Industrial Park, Biomedical Park and Electrical Industrial Park, Hongshan High-tech Park, Cangshan High-tech Park, Mawei High-tech Park and Fuzhou Software Park.

Led by leading enterprises including CPT Technology Co, Akuvox Networks Co and Newland Co, the zone mainly cultivates industries in new generation of information technology, equipment manufacturing, biotechnology, new materials and modern services.

In 2016, the zone’s total industrial output value was 119 billion yuan ($17 billion). Total income of the general public budget was 4.7 billion yuan and total export value was $5.4 billion.
