Changzhou New and Hi-Tech District in Jiangsu province was founded in November 1992 and was among the first batch of national hi-tech districts approved by the State Council.

In April 2002, Changzhou's Xinbei district was set up on the basis of the new and hi-tech district, covering 50,894 hectares with its population reaching 689,800.

Jointly with the Changzhou Free Trade Zone, the hi-tech district has so far formed an industrial development pattern in eight fields: chemical new materials, power equipment, general aviation, photovoltaic and new energy, life health, cultural creative industry, technology innovations and modern agriculture, along with.
