Zhangjiagang Economic and Technological Development Zone, in Jiangsu province was set up in 1993, was approved to State-level by the State Council in 2001. It covers 153 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 530,000.
In recent years, the development zone has formed a modern industrial system featuring modern service industries such as international business, service outsourcing, and software and animation, with intelligent manufacturing and remanufacturing, green power and semiconductor chips as the cores.
In 2017, the zone achieved regional GDP of 75.11 billion yuan ($10.82 billion) and public budget revenue of 5.01 billion yuan. Fixed assessment investment reached 21.02 billion yuan, with actual inflow of foreign capital amounting to $210 million.
