Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in 1990 in the eastern part of Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province, and was approved by the State Council as a national-level development zone in 1993.
With an area of 35.44 square kilometers and a population of 450,000, the zone has several industrial parks, universities and export processing parks. It has been making efforts to advance its facility manufacturing, electronic information, biomedicine, modern food, and new energy and new materials industries.
Nearly 200 enterprises with an annual output value of more than 100 million yuan ($14.52 million) have gathered in the zone, including Panasonic, Toshiba and Tingyi.
In 2017, the area gained a GDP of 65.2 billion yuan and total fiscal revenue of 13.44 billion yuan. The added value of industries above designated size was 43.37 billion yuan.
Currently, Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone has attracted over 810 foreign-funded enterprises from 40 countries and regions with a total capital of $7 billion.
