Organized by the Zhangjiang Platform Institute of Economics of Shanghai Pudong New Area and the organization department of the Wenjiang District Party Committee of Chengdu, Sichuan province, the first seminar on the operation and innovation of industrial function areas was held in Shanghai from Aug 26 to Sept 1.

Thirty-four leaders from Wenjiang district's economic departments and industrial functional regions attended the seminar and inspected the pharmaceutical valley, medical valley, and national-level incubator, carrying out in-depth discussions on cross-regional cooperation in the Yangtze economic zone and the operation of industrial functional regions.

Wenjiang district gathered information on problems, shortages, and needs related to innovation from different departments and development zones, which were answered and discussed at the seminar designed by the Zhangjiang Platform Institute of Economics.

The seminar was based on the advanced knowledge of the natural environment and system innovation of domestic and overseas industrial functional zones, and facilitated discussion on the cooperation between Zhangjiang and Wenjiang through teaching, case analysis, and topical discussion.

Zhangjiang is taking a leading role in transformation and development. It is experienced in innovative industrial cluster development, technological investment banking, innovation and entrepreneurship, and incubator operation. This experience can be shared and promoted.

"We will cooperate with Wenjiang district to build a research and training base that trains high-quality leaders and professionals for the Yangtze River Delta, cities in the Yangtze River economic belt, and development zones across the country. Additionally, the base will serve as an industrial think tank for researching the development of the Yangtze River economy and pushing forward innovation" said Chen Wei, dean of the Zhangjiang Platform Institute of Economics.
