Shandong Peninsula National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone was established on the basis of Shandong Peninsula hi-tech industrial development zones, approved by the State Council on April 11, 2016.
Shandong Peninsula hi-tech zones include the hi-tech industrial development zones in Jinan, Qingdao, Zibo, Weifang, Yantai and Weihai cities of east China’s Shandong province.
The demonstration zone positions itself as one with maritime economy-led transformation and upgrading.
It also strives to become a maritime science and technology innovation center with global influence, as well as a leading zone in transformation and upgrading, and in innovative methods of entrepreneurship, institutions and opening-up and collaboration.
The zone aims to create a first-class international maritime economy innovation and entrepreneurship park.
It focuses on supporting key high-tech companies such as Luye International Pharmaceutical Industrial Park and Oriental Bluesky Titanium Technology.
Meanwhile, efforts in attracting investments have been intensified and rewarded - the zone attracted $60 million of foreign investments and spent more than 2 billion yuan in 2016.
To facilitate the development of leading industry clusters, the zone will also establish featured industrial parks in marine biology and medicine, robotics and intelligent equipment, next-generation information technology and aviation and aerospace.
