Marriott International, BMW deepen strategic cooperation to promote green travel

Last September, Marriott International and BMW announced an expanded strategic cooperative partnership to promote the initiative of green travel in the Taihu Lake region.

Through the collaboration, BMW will deploy 23 units of electric vehicles, including new BMW series, like the i3, iX3 and iX, to 15 Marriott hotels in Wuxi, Suzhou, Anji, Hangzhou, Liyang, Nanjing and Changzhou cities of East China's Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.

So far, BMW has deployed 145 new energy cars and installed 42 charging pillars at 42 Marriott hotels across 14 Chinese cities, in a move to provide guests with a new sustainable travel experience.

Marriott International has proactively responded to China's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, striven for innovation in the Chinese context, and worked with its business partners to implement the sustainable development strategy by reducing waste, following relevant rules in responsible procurement, saving energy, cutting carbon dioxide emissions, and providing meaningful travel experiences.

With over 460 hotels in China, Marriott International is committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities in the promotion of sustainable development and to following the business concept of green and low-carbon development.

Marriott International will continue to abide by the philosophy of "Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction", following the guidance to achieve the long-term goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050, adopt scientific methods and promote the high-quality and healthy development of the domestic tourism market through green and low-carbon development.

Fifteen Marriott hotels in seven cities in the Taihu Lake region have given full play to the local natural environment, special culture, and rich historical deposits to bring a fresh travel experience to their guests.

In the future, Marriott International and BMW will fully leverage their brand strengths and experience to deepen the bilateral strategic cooperation, explore the potential of sustainable development, and raise the awareness of Chinese consumers in leading a low-carbon life.
