China's foreign trade up 10.1% in Jan-Aug

The value of China's foreign trade amounted to 27.3 trillion yuan ($4.19 trillion) in the first eight months of 2022, up 10.1 percent year-on-year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

Among that, the country's exports surged 14.2 percent on a yearly basis to 15.48 trillion yuan, while its imports grew 5.2 percent to 11.82 trillion yuan. Its trade surplus jumped 58.2 percent year-on-year to 3.66 trillion yuan.

The administration said that China's total foreign trade expanded 8.6 percent from the same period last year to 3.71 trillion yuan in August.

The country's trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations reached 4.09 trillion yuan between January and August, an increase of 14 percent on a yearly basis, while trade with the European Union rose 9.5 percent to 3.75 trillion yuan.

In the meantime, the goods trade value between China and the United States grew 10.1 percent year-on-year to 3.35 trillion yuan.
